चाळीसगाव - गिरणा व देशनाला धरणातून काढण्यात आलेल्या पाटचाऱ्यांचा फायदा काही विशिष्ट गावांनाच होत आहे. ज्या गावांत बंजारा समाजाची वस्ती आहे त्या गावांना या दोन्ही धरणांतून पाणी देणे शक्‍य असतानाही त्यांना पाण्यापासून वंचित ठेवले जात आहे. त्यामुळे या दोन्ही धरणांचे पाणी बंजारा समाजाची लोकवस्ती असलेल्या गावांना न मिळाल्यास तीव्र आंदोलन छेडण्यात येईल, असा इशारा बंजारा क्रांती दलाचे राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष राकेश जाधव यांनी दिला.
येथील शासकीय विश्रामगृहात घेतलेल्या पत्रकार परिषदेत याबाबत अधिक माहिती देताना श्री. जाधव यांनी सांगितले, की गिरणा व देशनाला (इसापूर) या धरणांच्या तसेच त्यांच्या पाटचाऱ्यांच्या परिसरात माळशेवगे, हातगाव, तळेगाव, अंधारी, शेवरी, ब्राह्मणशेवगे, इसापूर ही बंजारा समाजाच्या वस्तीची गावे आहेत. या गावांमध्ये दरवर्षी विशेषतः उन्हाळ्यात तीव्र पाणीटंचाई निर्माण होत असते. तांड्यावरील लोकांना दूरवर उन्हात भटकंती करून पाणी आणावे लागते. असे असताना धरणाच्या पाण्याचा या सर्व गावांना एक थेंब देखील मिळालेला नाही. केवळ बंजारा समाजाचे लोक या गावांमध्ये अधिक संख्येने मुद्दामहून या गावांना धरणाच्या पाण्यापासून वंचित ठेवले आहे. त्यामुळे बंजारा क्रांती दलाने हा प्रश्‍न गांभीर्याने विचारात घेतला असून या सर्व गावांना पाण्याचा लाभ मिळावा, यासाठी शासन दरबारी पाठपुरावा केला जाणार आहे. याबाबत शासनाने दखल न घेतल्यास, गावाच्या हद्दीबाहेर पाणी जाऊ न देण्याचा निर्धारही बंजारा क्रांती दलाने केला असल्याचे त्यांनी सांगितले.
चाळीसगाव तालुक्‍यात बंजारा समाजाचे सुमारे 70 तांडे असून समाजाचे एकट्या चाळीसगाव विधानसभा मतदारसंघात 55 हजार मतदार असल्याचे सांगून जाधव यांनी सांगितले, की एवढ्या मोठ्या संख्येने बंजारा समाजाचे लोक असूनही आजही समाजाचे प्रश्‍न सुटलेले नाहीत. त्यामुळे बंजारा समाजाचा आमदार झाला पाहिजे, यासाठी जळगाव जिल्ह्यातील चाळीसगाव व जामनेर विधानसभेची जागा मिळावी, अशी मागणी बंजारा क्रांती दलाने केली आहे. बंजारा समाज कष्टाळू व प्रामाणिक असल्याने या समाजाची नेहमीच गळचेपी होत आली आहे. विशेषतः प्रशासकीय कामांसाठी समाजाची चक्क हेळसांडच होत असते. समाजाच्या अगदी नगण्य मागण्या असतात. बंजारा समाजाच्या अनेकांकडे रेशनकार्ड, जातीचा दाखला, उत्पन्नाचा दाखला नाही, तो काढायचा असेल तर तहसील कार्यालयात पैशांची मागणी केली जाते. सातबारा उताऱ्यावर बोजा बसवायचा किंवा उतरायचा असेल तर तलाठी पाचशे रुपये मागतो. त्यामुळे अगोदरच हलाखीचे जीवन जगत असलेल्या बंजारा समाजाची आर्थिक पिळवणूकही होते. ही सर्व परिस्थिती लक्षात घेता पंधरा दिवसांत यात सुधारणा आढळून न आल्यास चाळीसगाव तहसील कार्यालय आवारात बंजारा क्रांती दलातर्फे बेमुदत धरणे आंदोलन केले जाईल, असेही त्यांनी सांगितले.
भाजपलाच पाठिंबा
बंजारा समाजाचे प्रश्‍न सोडविण्यासाठी भाजपचे नेते अटलबिहारी वाजपेयी यांनी प्रयत्न केल्याने गोपीनाथ मुंडे यांच्या नेतृत्वाखाली बंजारा क्रांती दल भाजपच्या उमेदवारांना निवडणुकीत सहकार्य करणार असल्याचे सांगून जाधव म्हणाले, की महाराष्ट्रात बंजारा क्रांती दलाच्या कार्यकर्त्यांनी केलेल्या सर्व्हेक्षणात बारा मतदारसंघ विजयाच्या दृष्टीने खात्रीशीर असल्याचे आढळून आले आहे. त्यामुळे गोपीनाथ मुंडे यांच्याकडे या मतदारसंघात आपले उमेदवार उभे राहावेत, यासाठी आपण मागणी केली आहे. मुंडेंसह एकनाथ खडसे यांच्यावर आपला विश्‍वास असल्याने ते या मागणीकडे निश्‍चितपणे लक्ष देतील, अशी आपल्याला खात्री वाटत असल्याचेही त्यांनी सांगितले. पत्रकार परिषदेस राजेंद्र जाधव, रवी राठोड, शेषराव जाधव, रोहिदास जाधव, नरेंद्र राठोड, डॉ. तुषार राठोड आदी उपस्थित होते.
नाईक यांचे नाव बाजार समितीला द्यावे
हरित क्रांतीचे प्रणेते स्वर्गीय वसंतराव नाईक यांची एक जुलैला जयंती आहे. त्याचे औचित्य साधून राज्यातील सर्व बाजार समित्यांना वसंतराव नाईक यांचे नाव द्यावे, अशी मागणी बंजारा क्रांती दलाने केली असल्याचे जाधव यांनी सांगितले. यासंदर्भात एक जुलैला राज्यातील सर्व तहसीलदारांना बंजारा क्रांती दलातर्फे निवेदन देणार असल्याचे श्री. जाधव यांनी सांगितले.

मुंबई - राजकीय पटलावर आपले अस्तित्व टिकवून ठेवण्यासाठी प्रयत्नशील असणारा बंजारा समाज आता शब्दरूपाने आपल्या समाजाची चित्तरकथा मांडणार आहे. येत्या विधानसभा निवडणुकीमध्ये बंजारा समाजास अधिकाधिक प्राधान्य मिळावे म्हणून धडपडणारा बंजारा संघ आपल्या समाज संस्कृतीचा दस्तावेज ग्रंथरूपाने लवकरच प्रकाशित करणार आहे.
या समाजाची पाळेमुळे, त्याची संस्कृती, श्रद्धा-अंधश्रद्धा, रीतीरिवाज, गोत्र या साऱ्याचा शोध घेत-घेत समाजाने केलेल्या प्रगतीचा धांडोळाही या अभ्यासग्रंथातून घेतला जाणार आहे. राज्यात बंजारा समाजाची दीड कोटी लोकसंख्या आहे. आजूबाजूचे जग, समाजव्यवस्था, कुटुंबपद्धती वेगाने बदलत गेली; तरीही गावागावांमध्ये असणारी या समाजाची तांडासमूहपद्धती मात्र आजही कायम आहे. गावाच्या बाहेर डोंगराच्या पायथ्याशी नायक आणि कारभाऱ्याच्या नेतृत्वाखाली आपले रोटी-बेटीचे व्यवहार सांभाळणाऱ्या या समाजाने आजही गावागावांतून आपली तांडा संस्कृती जपली आहे. या तांड्यामधील परस्पर नातेसंबंध, त्यांचे संघर्षमय जीवन, त्यातील यशोगाथांचे सुरस वर्णनही या अभ्यासग्रंथात वाचायला मिळणार आहे. अकरा तज्ज्ञ अभ्यासकांच्या मदतीने बंजारा समाजातील या शोधयात्रेचा प्रारंभ केला जाणार असल्याचे 'तांडा वस्ती सुधार योजने'चे संचालक हिरालाल राठोड यांनी 'सकाळ'ला सांगितले. या समाजाचे पूर्वज राजस्थानमधील मेवाडमधील राजा सेशूदिया कुळ हे बंजारा समाजाचे कुळ मानले जाते. या समाजातील साऱ्या प्रथा-परंपरा आजही राजस्थानमधील समूहरीतीप्रमाणेच आहेत. नायकाच्या साक्षीने तांड्यामध्ये सुरू असणारे विवाहसोहळे एक-एक महिना चालतात. दिवाळीला सर्वत्र धुमधडाक्‍यात केल्या जाणाऱ्या लक्ष्मीपूजनाची परंपरा बंजारा समाजामध्ये नसते, तर तेथे 'काळी दीपावली' जल्लोषात साजरी केली जाते. वेदमंत्रांच्या घोषात विविध सणसमारंभ इतर समूहात साजरे केले जातात; मात्र बंजारा समाजामध्ये गप्पीच्या प्रथेला अनन्यसाधारण महत्त्व आहे. एकही शब्द न उच्चारता मौनाचे महत्त्व सांगणारी ही अनोखी प्रथा आजही हा समाज पाळतो.
समाज- संस्कृतीच्या या विविध अंगांचा शोध घेत असतानाच बंजारा समाजासाठी शासनपातळीवर राबविण्यात आलेल्या विविध योजनांचाही परामर्श यात घेतला जाणार आहे.

स्वातंत्र्याची पहाट बंजारा समाजासाठी उगवलीच नाहीं

सोलापूर - पोलीस रात्री बेरात्री तांड्यावर छापे टाकत आहेत, स्वातंत्र्याच्या साठ वर्षानंतरही काबाडकष्ट करून सन्मानाने जगू पाहणाऱ्या बंजारा समाजाला गुन्हेगार जमात ठरवत पोलिसांकडून अन्यायी वागणूक मिळत आहे, असे मत दक्षिण सोलापूर तालुका सभापती उमाकांत राठोड यांनी आज येथे व्यक्त केले.
डफरीन चौकातील सारस्वत मंगल कार्यालयात बंजारा समाजातील कार्यकर्त्यांची बैठक झाली. तीत राठोड मार्गदर्शन करीत होते. यावेळी बंजारा क्रांतीदलाचे जिल्हाध्यक्ष मोतीराम चव्हाण, नगरसेवक भोजराज पवार, मोतीराम राठोड, जगन्नाथ जाधव, चाचा चव्हाण, किसन पवार, अशोक चव्हाण यांच्यासह समाजातील मान्यवर उपस्थित होते.
राठोड म्हणाले, "गत महिन्यात 28 तारखेला रात्री पोलिसांनी कोंडी तांडा (ता. उत्तर सोलापूर) येथे छापा टाकला. दिसेल त्याला मारहाण केली.'' पोलिसांच्या भयामुळे तांड्यावर कोणी पुरुषमंडळी आजही नाहीत. ज्यांनी गुन्हे केले त्यांना जरुर पकडा मात्र तांड्यावरील सर्वांनाच कसे गुन्हेगार ठरविता. सापडलेल्या लोकांवर 307 चे गुन्हे दाखल केल्याने जामीन मिळणेही दुरापास्त झाले. हा अन्याय असल्याचे त्यांनी सांगितले.
केवळ मतासाठी बंजारा समाजाला जवळ करायचे, पोलिसांनी अन्याय करीत गुन्हेगारी समाजचा शिक्का मारायचा, नेत्यांनी बघ्याची भूमिका घ्यायची, हे चालणार नाही, असे राठोड म्हणाले.
भोजराज पवार यांनी बंजारा समाजाने संघटितरित्या अन्यायाला विरोध करावा असे सांगून पोलिसांच्या अन्यायी धोरणाचा निषेध केला.
जो समाज बहुसंख्य त्याने अन्याय केला तर अल्पसंख्य समाजाने न्याय कोठे व कसा मागायचा? लमाण तांड्यावरील सगळेच कसे गुन्हेगार असतील? मते मागण्यासाठी येणाऱ्या नेत्यांना समाजावर होत असणारा अन्यायाबाबत काही करावे असे का वाटत नाही? '' असे विविध प्रश्‍न राठोड यांनी यानिमित्त उपस्थित केले.
जिल्हाध्यक्ष मोतीराम राठोड यांनी बंजारा समाजाच्या उमेदवारासाठी कॉंग्रेसने जागा सोडल्या पाहिजे असे सांगितले. उमाकांत राठोड, भोजराज पवार, अशोक चव्हाण, अलका राठोड अशा बंजारा समाजातील नेत्यांना कॉंग्रेसने विधानसभेची उमेदवारी दिली पाहिजे असे सांगितले. यावेळी विविध मान्यवरांनी मते व्यक्‍त केली.

The Banjaras are the largest and historic formed group in India and also known as Lambadi or Lambani. The Banjara people are a people who speak lambadi or Lambani. All gypsy languages are linked linguistically, stemming from ancient Sanskrit and belonging to the North Indo-Aryan language family. Lambadi is the heart language of the Banjara, but it has no written script. The Banjara speak a second language of the state they live in and adopt that script.

They are listed under 53 different names. Historically, these are the root Gypsies of earth. During the British colonial rule, these gypsy nomads of India were given the name Banjara, but they call themselves Ghor. The Banjaras are a colourful, versatile and one of the largest people groups of India, inhabiting most of the districts of Andhra Pradesh.

The Banjara are a sturdy, ambitious people and have a light complexion. The Banjara were historically nomadic, keeping cattle, trading salt and transporting goods. Most of these people now have settled down to farming and various types of wage labour. Their habits of living in isolated groups away from other, which was a characteristic of their nomadic days, still persist.

Their unique dress, heritage, customs and language distinguish them from the majority population, and they maintain a separate lifestyle. The banjara gypsies love storytelling, music, songs and dance. Men play drums and women dance in a circle chanting to the rhythmic beat. The Banjara are now experiencing rapid changes, and their traditional customs, practices and institutions are undergoing far-reaching transformations. They are now settled as agricultural labourers.

The Banjaras are located in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. The Banjara are primarily Hindu-Animists with their own gods and goddesses, festivals, and animistic worship practices. They offer goat sacrifices and are also bound by superstitions, fears and witchcraft.

Banjara Mirror Embroidery

The institution is working with "Lambanies", elsewhere known as "Banjaras", who originally came from Marwar. The 'Lambani' women wear very colourful dresses and ornaments that are quite unique and striking. The lambani women practice a unique mirror and embroidery craft, which they mostly use for making their own traditional dresses.
Reflection in clothThe traditional costume of the Lambadi woman glitters with small pieces of mirror, coins and costume jewellery. Using intricate methods of embroidery, these are affixed to cloth, which is made into dresses, bags, pillow cases, wall hangings, table mats etc.
Poetry with a needleA unique facet of the costume of the Lambadi woman is its elaborate embroidery. This is usually combined with mirror work to produce the glitter and colour that are integral parts of the Lambadi costume. Exquisite purses, dresses, bed spreads and wall hangings are made with intricate needlework. These articles come from the experienced and deft hands of traditional craft women.
It is the object of the Kendra to promote this skill of the Lambadi women not only to preserve this art but to be a means of supplementing their family income. Designs and facility are provided at the Kendra where the Lanbadi women from the near by villages come to the Kendra to practice their traditional crafts for production of various articles. They are paid on piece rate wages. They are also given Provident Fund, Bonus and subsidized ration benefit.
The Kendra is working with eight lambani villages. The information is furnished here below.

Special training programmes for Self Help Groups:

Banjara neadle work training for tribal SHG members
DWACRA (Self Help Groups) scheme was introduced by the State Government for the benefit of the rural women to encourge the group activity. The main objective of the scheme is to involve the productive female work groups of the rural areas in to some production activity. Keeping this in view the District Rural Development Agency authorities approached the JSS to conduct special skill training programmes for DWACRA groups and to guid them with the probable projects to take up rural livelihoods.
The JSS has organized Agarbathi making, Pickle making, Leaf plates making, Preparation of Bakery items, Candle making, Detergent powder making, Rasam, Sambaroo powders making, Preparation of Jam, Juice & Jellies, Liquid Blue & Soap oil making, etc., skill training programmes under the sponsorship of District Rural Development Agency, Krishna. Now many groups are in a position to earn their livelihoods by using these income generation skills.
